The Israel-Palestine conflict, a saga spun over a century, epitomizes a crucible of discord and a tableau of contrasting national aspirations. The roots of this conflict stretch back to the late 19th century when the aspiration of Zionists for a Jewish homeland in Ottoman-controlled Palestine began to take shape. This aspiration burgeoned with the Balfour Declaration of 1917, and further intensified post World War II and the Holocaust, culminating in the establishment of Israel in 1948. For many Jewish individuals, this establishment was a sanctuary, a haven amidst a storm of persecution. However, for Palestinians, this marked the Nakba (catastrophe), heralding a protracted struggle for statehood and a life amidst dissonance.
